Le grand chef cooking session

It was a v random occassion that i received a flyer about applying for a free cooking session with le grand chef.. just ended the session n typing this as i wait for the bus home...

The school looks v run down on the outside.. but the kitchen looks spick n span.. n professional... my level of profrssional might not be the actual level required.. but thats besides the point..

I went alone n arrived on time.. but coz the class was free.. the students took their time to arrive.. anyway.. learnt 3 dishes.. a soup, a prawn dish and lastly, a dessert.. The soup.wasnt really to my taste.. but the prawn dish was fantastic. The dessert was a sure win..

s asked to do something.. i i actually brainlessly just went ahead to do it.. hopefully i didnt offemd.him...

new update... new life

The random bored me went to google and typed my own name to search about myself. and i stumbled myself back to my own blog - here- but it went all the way to 2005 and 2006.. when I was still a student, studying for exams... http://yapcymixer.blogspot.com/2005/04/ooooo-must-say-this.html and when i was 21, at attachment... http://yapcymixer.blogspot.com/2006/05/yapcymixer-monthly-bulletin.html

Those 2 little episodes brought me back to a glimpse of the life i had then...
I was q glad i blogged... the 2nd one was kinda like a new chapter of my life, when i moved on to a new church, and when i stepped out of studenthood to get a taste of work life.. and a life of a designer...

and in the 2006 May edition of my blog, (the second link above), I also mentioned about the elections! It was the first time i voted in an election....and 2011... more rumors about upcoming elections...

i am still not interested in taking sides for political parties.. i prefer standing on neutral ground, and as a common citizen, cast my scared and vote, for the betterment of my community and neighbourhood. Even though I am in PA, I still want to serve people.. Is the PAP winning/losing the elections in my constituency going to affect the amount of outreach the People's Association ( My CC) from outreaching the community, the people? I wouldn't know until it really happens.

So far I have not seen an opposition party in action in my neighbourhood. I do not know if it's coz they have their restrictions in terms of access, thats y they need to fight harder to win. and again, i wouldn't know until it really happens.

For a common citizen, with no connection to PA, I would think they are driven by the following factors:
1: What the government can give me/ my household (upgrading)
2: What i saw the government / how well they have done in the past 5years ( Was I one of the last people they took care of just coz elections r coming? or have they helped me in one way or another when i met my problem?)

Yesterday was budget 2011. during the CNY dinner, MP announced the proposed upgrading plans for the upcoming years.. Goood news, but I also think it was political. It was announced that Zone 3 has Home improvement scheme approved but Zone 1's status was in the process of applying. Why? Zone 1 is older than Zone 3 right? Logically speaking i believe so.. I naturally linked it to the LUP scheme (the so called carrot for us during the 2006 elections..) and I was not v happy that we were one of the last to get the LUP, but this Home improvement Scheme, we were not one of the first...  BUT BUT BUT ..... I am positive. because if i am not wrong, there are 3 rooms/ 4 rooms over at Zone 3... that means the lower incomed group are taken of first.. zone 1, are 4-5 roomers.. ie there was a reason behind this choice... and i want to but again: that if a parent has 2 children, one is not v smart, one is smart... The parent will pay more attention to the not so smart one, but he will/should not neglect the smarter one too much also... we 5 roomers need love too.. telling us it's coming doesn't make us happier than telling us we both get it at the same time... no more waiting like the LUP.

During the dinner, i also explained to the lady beside me, that the government is v tactful.. they will look at the economy and release projects and jobs to sustain the construction industry.. which i think and hope that is their direction. this probably explains why we can't get at the same time.. with this note, I call myself to be the sensible smart child. But to some emotional political enthusiast, they will call it naive. or brainwashed.. There are alot of smart children. but probably only half are sensible. the other half might be swayed by emotions...

Anyway, i am not some political scientist or analyst.. so it's just the thoughts in my head.... more kopi talk only.. Maybe Coz i studied Macro and mirco economics thats y i kinda know / link.. hahaha too bad if you have studied econs and can't link! haha...

Letters to Juliet

In the story, sophie, engaged, went on a pre wedding honeymoon with her fiancee. but throughout the whole honeymoon, sophie realized that it's not working between her n her fiancee coz as a couple, they did not mind not spending time together as a pair. 

At Verona, while her fiancee was busy meeting his suppliers, sophie got to know that there was a wall in verona that women from all over the world go there to write letters to Juliet of Capulet,(from Romeo and Juliet i think ) and there was this team of "Juliet's secretaries" who will reply those letters. by chance she got the opportunity to find a letter, forgotton for 50 yrs (coz it was behind a brick) .

Manhattan Fish market at City Square Mall

I was VERY pleasantly awed and convicted to blog about the service provided in the Manhattan Fish market at the newly opened city square mall this evening.. EXCELLENT SERVICE i must say... I walked in and was pleasantly greeted by ALL the crew. The restaurant was not empty. in fact there were quite a few customers already. To make it simple for readers, i'll basically summary the whole Manhatten fish market experience.

1. I mentioned earlier.. was welcomed by THE ENTIRE CREW OF WAITERS as i walked into the restaurant. In UNISON, they greeted customers entering the restaurant
2. We ordered our food and our food came out relatively fast. This was good. what was better. we were served with one plate of sauces. Tartar sauce, chili sauce and garlic. as we were enjoying the food served, i noticed a waiter lurking around me.. i was wondering why. but soon after, he AUTOMATICALLY appeared with an extra serving of Tartar sauce.. then i realized: My table ran out of tartar sauce!!!!! it was eaten away of coz.. by my co diner! I was more than amazed! usually customers gotta raise hands, and request for extra serving.. this outlet serves when they noted that the sauce has depleted!!!
   
3. My co diner ordered a "bottomless" drink. I didn't believe it meant free flow of that specific drink. so i actually asked a waitress. so she replied me, "yup it's free flow.we will refill it when you finished your drink". the drink was 70 percent drunk. so we thought: "ok, she'll refill it soon. let's see the jug of drink coming around..." to our surprise again, she reappeared with A NEW CUP of ice lemon tea!!!!!!!! THIS is one level higher than excellent service!!!
4. one of the 2 meals that was ordered came with a desert. usually the desert is for one person, and shd come with one spoon. THIS one they knew we were going to share the desert and they AUTOMATICALLY SERVED 2 SPOONS instead of 1! How thoughtful was that!?!?! I think this is also taking the extra mile and effort to serve customers!
   

Apart from the excellent service, there is of coz areas of improvement..
calamari... was q disappointing...

price.. i think it's in the mid range zone.. DBS card members can spend $40 and get a $10 returning voucher.. i think this is q a good deal, if u come back within 3 months...

THis is by far the BEST restaurant with the best service i can find!!!!
